Will there be a season 2 of Beastars?

As Japanese anime Beastars returns for a second season, fans are wondering what will be next for the story. The anime created by Paru Itagaki is immensely popular in Japan. Streaming giant Netflix has taken responsibility of distributing the anime to the English speaking world and otherwise. With Beastars season 2 given the green light, fans need not worry about the anticipated manga’s end as teased by Paru Itagaki.

While nothing has been revealed officially, it is important to note that Netflix will be releasing a second part of the anime. Recent updates will be summarized below of all that we found.

Beastars season 2 arrives sometime around August 2020, however, an official release date has yet to be announced. Fans speculate that Beastars season 2 might be released around said date by a few months. Given the fact that September is nearly over, August 2020 may not be an appropriate date. Studio Orange, the studio in charge of the anime’s production, has confirmed via announcement that the show will receive a season 2, and that Beastars season 2 is already in production. Two notable scriptwriters working on the series, Shinichi Matsumi and Nanami Higuchi, ensure that this season will be something fans will enjoy and not want to miss.

Fans guess that the upcoming season will be slow, since it is adapting multiple longer spans of manga chapters. Beastars season 2 will cover manga chapters 48-98. Despite rumors of the manga coming to an end, fans hope that enough material will be written for a season 3 eventually.

The cast for Beastars season 2 in the Japanese dub will include Chikahiro Kobayashi as Legoshi and Sayaka Senbongi as Haru. Junya Enoki will play as Jack, and Yoshiyuki Shimozuma as Voss. Atsumi Tanezaki will play as Juno, Akio Ohtsuka as Gouhin, and Yuuki Ono as Louis. Takeo Otsuka will act as Collot, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Kai, Fukushi Ochiai as Sanou, Yūma Uchida as Mizuno, and many more.

Beastars Season 2 Release Date Announced

The official tweet announcing Beastars season 2 hit trending news in the anime community in December 2019. It received over four thousand likes, and it received over a thousand replies upon release alone. You can see the tweet in question below:

Another response from Netflix showed fans that season 2 was assuredly on the way.

Fans have estimated immensely on when the next season will arrive to Netflix. By taking notice of patterns in the industry, they have determined an earliest release date would be December 2020. Because the Netflix release of the first season occured months after season one finished airing in Japan, fans determine that season two, if released to Japan in August, would arrive to Netflix by December 2020. However, as September comes to a close, this might be unlikely. It is safe to say at this point, that Beastars season 2 will not be a 2020 release, even in Japan.

The author announced in July regarding the future of the series. The tweet on twitter can be seen below where she announces that the series is in production, and is anticipated to be making a return as Beastars season 2 in 2021.

Additionally, fans may be disappointed to hear that the show will be delayed even further if it is set to broadcast exclusively in Japan first. Season 1’s broadcast from October to December of 2019 resulted in a Netflix appearance three months later. It does look like that there will inevitably be a delay between the Japan and Netflix releases.

In other news, misinformation spread due to the Netflix twitter of France. The Netflix twitter made the announcement that the series would be released on January 21st. However, the tweet was then deleted an an apology tweet was made soon after, apologizing immensely for the misinformation that was spread.

Samedi dernier, on t’annonçait l’arrivée de la saison 2 de Beastars pour le 21 janvier 2021.

Malheureusement, c’était une petite erreur. On criera au loup dès qu’on a une date définitive, promis.

Is the Beastars manga ending?

As stated by author Paru Itagaki, the manga may be coming to an end soon. However, statements rarely verify as true, especially those in passing. Many manga, although long running, persist for years or hold on hiatus, or both. So to hear merely a rumor that the manga might be ending stands as no concrete proof it will any time soon.

The manga first debuted in September of 2016, and since then has had 17 volumes added. The franchise, as well as the fans, have grown fiercely strong and loyal to the series and eagerly anticipate the second season’s arrival. Even though not every anime stays true to the manga, Beastars has done very well in this regard.

The Beastars trailer rest as proof of the fan’s loyal nature, sitting at a whopping 121k views after 7 months of being on YouTube. You can see the trailer below:

Despite the trailer being only seconds long, it has received immense attention by fans. For more information regarding Beastars season 2, check out this article: When is ‘Beastars’ Season 2 Coming to Netflix in 2021?

What can be expected from Beastars season 2?

After saving Haru’s life, Legoshi grew closer to the rabbit. However, he still struggles with their relationship as prey and predator. After admitting his feelings to Haru, he realized he needs to grow stronger. In this second season, Legoshi is sure to train with Gohin, a sturdy panda.

Where is Louis?

Louis is a red deer with a strong personality.

Near the end of the first season, Louis disappeared. While fans do not believe Louis would be so foolish as to allow himself to be eaten, there is existing conflict between the red deer and the lions. There is a possibility that the lions wish to enact revenge on the deer.

While fans have enduring questions concerning the show, not many have been answered. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the series takes more time for the studio to produce. Delays may persist even further than normal due to working constraints. However, Studio Orange is working hard on the project and anticipate for a release to be both satisfactory and timely.

When do you think the season will be revealed? Do you think season three is a possible this year? Let us know with a comment below! And if you have any Beastars fans as friends, be sure to show them this article in anticipation for season 2.
