Designated Survivor is an American political thriller drama television series created by David Guggenheim that aired on ABC for two seasons. Season three aired exclusively and globally on Netflix. Designated Survivor Season 4 is also expected soon.

Designated Survivor Season 4 – A show that has so much potential built into it shouldn’t fail to deliver so consistently. It has a novel, yet terrifying plot and recognizable actors .

This show demonstrates many things. It’s trying to be politically relevant, a series that could exemplify the retrieve of Americans in the worst of times. It also depicts an FBI drama starring a reckless agent whose super power is being able to run down dead leads in heels. Taking advantage of the computer savant whose crush on her overrides security clearances for breaking the law. It’s a soap opera about a family whose lives change in a manner of minutes.

Cast of Designated Survivor Season 4

The cast include Benjamin Charles Watson as Dontae, Kiefer Sutherland as Kirkman, Italia Ricci as Emily Rhodes, Jamie Clayton as Sasha, Anthony Edwards as Mars Harper, Elena Tovar as Isabel Pardo, and Mckenna Grace as Penny Kirkman.

Storyline

Kiefer Sutherland stars as Tom Kirkman, a lower-level cabinet member who is suddenly appointed President of the United States. After a catastrophic attack on the US Capitol during the State of the Union, on the highly anticipated series Designated Survivor. In this dramatic thriller, Kirkman will struggle to keep the country and his own family from falling apart. While navigating the highly-volatile political arena and while leading the search to find who is responsible for the attack.

Tom is thrust into a full-fledged life of a politician when all the rest of the Cabinet, including the President, are killed in a bomb attack during that address. Leaving Tom to assume the Presidency. Taking into account his family who did not sign up for such a political life. Tom decide what to do about his and their future, and whether idealism has any place in the role of President.

Story plot

All the problems that Season 1 and 2 had, were just further exacerbated in Season 3.

Season 1:

Great storyline and a modern update with current affairs.  Definitely could figure out which stories they were implementing into the show with current president Trump. The Asian FBI agent was a little over the top and in some ways in unrealistic outcomes.

Season 2:

Carried out pretty much the same way, but the storylines is what kept intrigue and anticipation for the next events.

Season 3:

This season where Netflix takes over from ABC, and it shows. Season 3 tries to be a little edgier with coarse language, but the scale of the narrative feels a lot smaller.

There were a lot of subplots which I felt had no real impact on the main narrative. things like the assisted suicide plot, the sperm donor baby plot, and Hannah Wells’ investigation. Season 3 also feels distinctively more left-wing than previous seasons. There’s a lot of focus on right-wing groups and how bad they are, but there is no mention of left-wing groups at all. Isabel and Aaron breaking up only later to find out that Isabel is pregnant with Aaron’s baby. We also witness Mars convincing, Lynn, to run for her father’s old Senate seat.

A golden opportunity comes knocking up Isabel’s door when she’s asked to be the White House Deputy Chief of Staff.

Season 4 expectation

Despite knowing the truth that the series was dropped by Netflix, fans didn’t give up their hope. Fans still believes that it will continue and return with a new season with more interesting plots.
