DU admissions 2020 updates

The Delhi University has extended the date for DU admissions 2020. Further, the university has started applications from June 20, 2020. And, the last date was July 04, 2020. However, last week, the concerned authorities have extended the last date of submission. Now, The last date to apply to different DU courses is July 31, 2020. Candidates can apply for admission at the official web site of Delhi University i.e du.ac.in Candidates can apply up to 5:00 pm by July 31, 2020. They can apply for all Under Graduate (UG) programmes, Postgraduate (PG) programmes, M.Phil programmes, PhD programmes etc.

How to apply for DU admissions 2020

All the interested candidates need to follow the following steps to get admission to different courses of Delhi University.

  • Firstly, visit the official web site of Delhi University, i.e. du.ac.in
  • Secondly, click on the link under the heading “Admission 2020”.
  • After that, click on the link of the registration portal for UG, PG, M.Phil, or PhD programmes.
  • Candidate needs to register himself or herself.
  • Further, log in and fill the application form.
  • Moreover, fill in your academic as well as your personal details correctly in the application form.
  • Lastly, click on submit.
  • After that, pay the application fee.

NOTE – Candidates can apply for admissions through online portal only, There is no offline mode for DU admissions 2020 for any candidate.

Application Fee

For Under Graduate (UG) Programmes
  • Merit-based courses for UR/ OBC – Rs. 250/-
  • Registration fee for SC/ ST/ PwBD/ EWS – Rs. 100/-
  • Additional registration fee for ECA/ sports – Rs. 100/-
  • Further, the registration fee for entrance based courses for UR/ OBC – Rs 750/-
  • Registration fee for entrance based courses for SC/ ST/ PwBD/ EWS – Rs. 300/-
  • Admission cancellation fee – Rs. 1000/-
For Post Graduate (PG) Programmes
  • Registration fee for SC/ ST/ PwBD/ EWS – Rs. 300/- per course
  • Further, the registration fee for courses for UR/ OBC – Rs. 750/- per course.
For M.Phil and PhD Programmes
  • Registration fee for SC/ ST/ PwBD/ EWS – Rs. 300/- per course
  • Further, the registration fee for courses for UR/ OBC – Rs. 750/- per course

NOTE – The application fee is non – refundable in any circumstances.

Documents or certificates needed for DU admissions 2020

Candidates will need the following certificates and documents during the whole admission procedure. So, the details are as follows:

  • Mark sheet and certificate of class 10th.
  • Certificate and Mark sheet of Class 12th.
  • If applicable, OBC (NCL) (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate
  • If the candidate belongs to the EWS category, he pr she needs to submit the certificate.
  • Further, ECA / Sports category must upload self – attested copies of the required certificates.

Eligibility Criteria

There has been set up certain eligibility criteria for different programmes of Delhi University. Candidates need to learn about the eligibility requirements before filling the application form. So, the details are as follows:

For Post Graduate Programmes
Educational Qualification
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field from a recognised board or university with at least 50% marks.

Age  Limit
  • Most importantly, there is no age limit for getting admission in Delhi University.
  • However, the courses in which the regulatory bodies functions such as –
  1. AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education)
  2. (MCI) Medical Council of India
  3. (BCI) Bar Council of India
  4. (NCTE) National Council of Teacher Education
  5. (DCI) Dental Council of India etc

These organisations have prescribed the minimum age requirements in their respective regulations.

For Under Graduate Programmes

There are certain academic as well as other eligibility requirements for the candidates to get admission in DU undergraduate courses. Thus, the details are as follows:

  • The candidate should have passed the 12th class examination from a recognised Board or University in India or any other foreign country.
  • Further, the candidate should have passed in each subject required ( including practicals, if any) for calculating merit and eligibility to the course he or she wants admission in.
  • Applicants under minorities, particularly Sikh and Christians, can seek admission under the minority quota.
For M.Phil and PhD Programmes
  • M.Phil admission – A candidate must have obtained at least 50% marks in MA in their relevant subjects from a recognised board or university.
  • PhD – An applicant must have obtained at least 55% in M.A or M.Phil in their relevant subjects from a recognised board or university.
