FBI is leading an inquiry into the Twitter hacks which took place on Wednesday.
Twitter suffered a major breach where many of its high profile accounts got hacked. The hacked accounts included: Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Kanye West, Wraen Buffet, Elon Musk, and many others. The hackers conducted a bitcoin fraud with the help of hacked accounts.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, has taken up the inquiry of the breach. As twitter is a highly effective platform to drive the crowd. It was a very risky situation considering the upcoming elections. It is very suspicious as to what may be the motive behind such a major cyber attack. But for now, it seems that the hack was only carried out for money scam. They said that neither Elon Musk was behind this nor this was the plan of Joe Biden’s campaign. The hackers were not also of any different country. It seemed that the twitter hacks were only some individuals’ attempt for monetary gains.
Officials say the twitter accounts had been compromised for cryptocurrency scam. It is very likely to predict that the hackers had some internal help from twitter employees. Twitter officials declined to answer these questions. Twitter postponed the release of its new developer tools due to this issue.
There have been many former issues of the user’s data being pampered. But one can say this was one of the worst social media attacks. Twitter’s cyber security system is still being questioned.
