Henry Cavill Builds a Gaming PC, Fans Freak Out

If he doesn’t return as Superman, he just might have a computer engineering job waiting for him. Henry Cavill trended once again on Twitter today, but this time, it wasn’t to promote The Witcher or gain support for a possible return as the man of steel. He built a computer.

Superman Builds a Supercomputer

An IGTV video Cavill posted to his account showed him gathering computer hardware, piecing things together, looking confused, piecing more things together, and then showing the temperature readings on his CPU. The final reel of the episode ends on a black screen with a message that says, “The end. Or more realistically, it’s just the beginning.”

Who knew Henry Cavill was so tech savvy? He clearly knows his way around social media, but building a computer? That one threw everyone for a loop. The guy is a renaissance man.

What’s fascinating, and hilarious, is that the video is set to seductive Barry White tunes while Cavill sports a blue tank top. Muscles unleashed, he reads through paper directions and uses a screwdriver like a true DIYer. It’s a hilarious video you have to see for yourself to get the full effect.

A Cryptic Message

Some fans are questioning the final screen of the video. It reads, “The end. Or more realistically, just the beginning.” Cavill has been known to “troll” and tease fans with his social media antics, leading some to believe the statement has a dual meaning. Is Henry Cavill sending out a cryptic message to fans? A message to diehards who are eager to see him return as Superman?

Cavill pulled a huge PR stunt in 2018 when he posted an Instagram video of him holding a Superman figurine as  rumors DC was looking to strip the actor of the Clark Kent role were circulating. Are we reading into this a little too much?

Henry Cavill as Superman

Henry Cavill starred as Clark Kent (aka Superman) in Zack Snyder’s 2013 take on the franchise, Man of Steel. He reprised his role in DC Comics’s two follow up films, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and The Justice League (2017).

Fans of Cavill’s version of Superman expressed disappointment online when rumors he wouldn’t return for the role in future DC films began circulating the web. However, recent reports indicate Cavill is still in talks with DC for a possible return in an upcoming film.

Cavill isn’t shy about his love for the man of steel and desire to keep the role. “I’ve always been a fan of Superman…I hope I get to play more of [him] in years to come,” he told Variety in a recent interview. We can only hope studios give the actor another shot in the DC Extended Universe. If not Superman, maybe they’ll bring him on as a computer engineer.

Henry Cavill Through the Years…

Before Superman

If you’ve never seen Henry Cavill outside his role as Superman, you may be surprised to find he’s a British actor. Cavill was born on the Bailiwick of Jersey, where he attended St. Michael’s Prepatory School. He later attended Stowe School in Stowe, Buckinghamshire before starting his career as an actor.

Cavill’s first role was in the film Laguna (2001), where he starred as Thomas. Immediately afterwards, he played in The Count of Monte Cristo (2002), a much more popular film that proved to have lasting appeal. His success as a Hollywood actor continued in the years following. He landed several key roles in renowned films as well as a leading role in the TV series The Tudors (2004-2010).

The Tudors

Henry Cavill played the role of Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk, in the hit Showtime TV series The Tudors. The show ended with a 4-season run that was met with mostly positive reviews. He starred among other well-known actors such as Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Sam Neill, and Callum Blue.

As a Secret Agent

Mission Impossible: Fallout

After his role in the DC Extended Universe films, Cavill went on to co-star in Misson: Impossible – Fallout (2018) alongside Tom Cruise. Fans enjoyed his over-the-top, brutal personality in the film, where he “cocked his biceps” before brawling with Cruise in a major scene. The film was successful, and Cavill proved a perfect fit for the role.

James Bond

For years, Daniel Craig expressed dissatisfaction with his role as James Bond, citing the brutal fitness regimen he has to endure to portray the character. Henry Cavill’s name has been thrown around as a possible replacement for Craig. According to Cavill, however, he was told he was too “chubby” to play James Bond at one point. Considering the size he’s gained to play roles such as Superman and The Witcher, he’s probably not eyeing a James Bond role anytime soon.

What’s Next?

Henry Cavill is set to reprise his role as Geralt for The Witcher season 2 in 2021. The first season was a huge success, breaking Netflix streaming records and becoming a pop culture favorite. It was released just after the disappointing Game of Thrones finale, and fans ate it up. For many, it was a welcome replacement TV series that filled the whole GOT left.

If the rumors circulating Hollywood are true, Cavill will indeed return as Superman in future DC Extended Universe films. This comes alongside news that Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton are also set to both reclaim their roles as Batman in a DC Flashpoint-event style movie. Nothing is set in stone yet, but we’re hopeful.
