International Yoga Day: NCERT Organises Online Yoga Quiz

What is International Yoga Day?

International Yoga Day is celebrated on 21 June every year across the world. Yoga is a body activity. It helps to keep physical, mental and spiritual every state in a disciplined manner. Ancient India originated in Yoga. The forms of asanas charge your body. In India, International Yoga Day is celebrated by the whole nation. For Instance, a 5 years old child shows interest in doing yoga asanas.

Our present Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrates this day with citizens of India. The Ministry of AYUSH do all the arrangements and fulfils the requirements for this event. Approximately, 21 asanas are performed for 35 minutes at Rajpath in New Delhi. Unfortunately, this year is not good for gatherings. Therefore, the COVID-19 outbreak is triggering human life. So, everyone celebrated International Yoga Day at home. Hence, sharing photos and videos over social media and joining people.

Yoga As School Curriculum

As per the educational point of view, people believe every school must have yoga as an activity. However, many schools promote yoga as a necessary part of human life. For instance, they tell children about its merit in school assembly and take 10-20 minutes sessions too. Hence, adding yoga as a school curriculum is beneficial for the growth of child health and discipline.

Even our Education Minister believe that school must have yoga as an activity. Undoubtedly, due to pandemic teachers and parents instruct their children at home. This year it was not possible to organise Yoga Olympiad. However, students also shared their photos and videos on whats app to their beloved teachers.

Online Yoga Quiz Competition

National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has organised an online yoga quiz for students to participate. Mainly, The yoga quiz is for classes 6th to 12th. Moreover, the students can participate from June 21 to midnight of 20th July 2020.

HRD Minister Ramesh Pokriyal ‘Nishank’ launched yoga quiz as online competition. He tweeted, ” Learners participate in the National Online Yoga Quiz Competition by @ncert and stand a chance to win merit certificates!” 

So, the top 100 scorers will get merit certificate for winning online yoga quiz competition.

Furthermore, HRD Minister added by this quiz students will enhance their knowledge regarding yoga. They will work on their health and lifestyle more. The aim to launch is Olympiad is to bring motivation and awareness to the children. They must learn, adapt and understand the importance of yoga in human life.
