NIOS public exams stand cancelled!

The Ministry of HRD made an official announcement through their official twitter handle stating that the NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) public exams for 10&12 that were scheduled to be held in July 2020, now stand cancelled. Further, they also proclaimed that the results will be declared on the assessment scheme. The scheme was finalized by the competent committee of NIOS.

The students who registered themselves for the NIOS board exam have the option to appear in the public exam next year. They can improve their performance the next year.

Earlier, the exams were postponed twice and the examination was now scheduled from July 17, 2020. However, NIOS has decided to do away with the 10&12 public exams this year amid the Covid-19 scare and subsequently nationwide lockdown. The reason behind this as stated by the Ministry of HRD was the health of the learners.

NIOS public exams stand cancelled! But, students must go through all the point carefully to know how their NIOS Results 2020 will be prepared:

  • First, For learners of NIOS 10th and NIOS 12th, who have past performance (i.e, passed). In four subjects, the average marks for the best three subjects will be considered.
  • Second, For learners of NIOS 10th and NIOS 12th, who have past performance (i.e, passed). In three subjects, the average marks for the best two subjects will be considered.
  • Third, For learners of NIOS 10th and NIOS 12th, who have past performance in one or two subjects (i.e, passed). The theory marks will be calculated based on the average performance in the theory of last three public examinations. This will be for those subjects for which the learner was registered to appear in the examinations.
  • Finally, For first-time NIOS learners, Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA) and/or Practical marks are available, their performance will be based on the same. Their performance will be calculated basis the last three public examinations in the subject for which the earner had to appear in the March-April 2020 NIOS exams.
