The curtains are finally being pulled. Google just came out in the open and officially revealed the Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a(5G) and Pixel 5. Google was originally expected to launch the Pixel 4a back in May. But no one could stand in the way of a pandemic.
All about the new releases
Google Pixel 4a costs $350; half the price of Pixel 4. Despite the decreased price, the Pixel 4a has some solid features. It actually comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage- both very notable improvements over their last launch- Pixel 3a. Even its processor has been upgraded to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G SoC. The battery capacity has also been expanded to a 3000mAh battery; along with an 18W fast charger. This makes it seem that Pixel 4a might easily last all day in normal use.
Google announced that the newer flagships will arrive “this fall”, but they are yet to reveal specific details. But we know that both of these will be Google’s first 5G connectivity phones. Google has also mentioned that Pixel 4a(5G) will be priced at around $499, but they are yet to mention the same about Pixel 5. Google has given a little deep about the Pixel 4a(5G) . They said it will “make streaming videos, downloading content and playing games faster and smoother than ever.”
When to expect?
People have been speculating regarding the release of the new Pixel phones since very long now. There was much more anticipation regarding the Google Pixel 4a, given its affordable price. But now, Google has officially stated that it can be ordered ahead of its availability date- that is, 20th August.
Google has not mentioned accurate dates of launching the other two models, except that they are lined up for 2020.
More about the Google announcement
Google released a picture of the two phones, side by side, to announce that Pixel 4a(5G) and Pixel 5 were on their way. However, they did not provide a clear view of the phones, it was only the side view. They have used the backdrop as 5G as placed the two phones between the ‘5’ and the ‘G’. Pixel 4a(5G) is on the right, by the ‘G’, and seems to have a purple-coloured power button. The Pixel 5 is on the left, by the ‘5’, and seems to have a metallic brushed frame.
The camera cutouts of the two phones can also be seen in the picture. The Pixel 4a(5G), however, seems to have a bulkier camera than the Pixel 5.
But there’s no more to that. We just wait until Google decides to divulge all details.
