Sony just confirmed that PlayStation 5 will support PS4 controllers only for playing games. It is also confirmed that PS4 will work with PlayStation 5, but not with PS 5 games.
Sony’s stand
As per earlier reports, Sony’s new PS5 is all set to release during the 2020 holiday season. Yet, they have not disclosed anything about its exact launch date or price. There is not even a mention regarding the starting of pre-orders.
Sony, however, did a console reveal in June, along with unveiling its features and accessories. But this raised many questions regarding the future usage of the already bought PS4 accessories. So, Sony finally came to the front and answered all the questions on the official PlayStation Blog. They wrote, ” Today, we are happy to share a brief FAQ that will answer some of your questions. If you have questions that aren’t addressed, feel free to leave them in the comments below.” And sure enough, the team answered a lot of questions. They also confirmed that the PlayStation camera will be compatible with PlayStation 5.
Geoff Keighley mentioned in the DualSense Review that the developers will be able to customize the game experience for the new controller. “You will have the best experience of the games on the DualSense controller”, he said. Sony also confirmed that games like racing wheels, arcade sticks and flight sticks will work completely well on PS5. The PS Move Motion Controllers and PlayStation VR Aim Controller will also work reportedly well with PS5.
User’s reaction
Although the users were very worried at first, they now have some clarity to plan their purchases. They are not much surprised to find out that Dual Shock Controllers will become useless with the PS5. After all, they had experienced the same during the transition from PS3 to PS4, and from Xbox 360 to Xbox One.
