Pune University has made some new announcements regarding the recent developments in conducting Pune University Exam 2020 and other details. The exams will be based on 60 per cent syllabus completed before the national lockdown.
Pune University exams current scenario
Pune has reported over 5600 positive novel coronavirus. The authorities have eased down lockdown on several parts of the district which are not red zones. With the students anxious what this will bring to them, Savitribai Phule Pune Univerity is looking at laying down new guidelines for its students. Maharashtra higher education minister Uday Samant has urged the University grants commission (UGC) to cancel all exams. Despite of this, University (SPPU) will conduct Pune University Exam 2020 for final-year graduate and post-graduate final year students.
The decision was taken at the Vidya Parishad meeting held by SPPU vice-chancellor Nitin Karmalkar on Saturday, an official said. As per UGC guidelines and state government’s experts’ committee, Pune University Exam 2020 for final year students will be held in the month of July. This comes two days after Samant wrote to top education body expressing difficulty in conducting the exam for final year students.
How will Pune University Exam 2020 take place?
The university has made five committees that will be responsible to prepare a plan of action to conduct these exams. SPPU’s Vidya Parishad gave sanction to this action plan and the Parishad also gave sanction to the new syllabus of the undergraduate and post-graduate second-year courses at Saturday’s meeting.
According to Mahesh Kakade, director examination and evaluation board of SPPU there will be no academic loss of any of the students of SPPU and its affiliated colleges. “All the precautionary measures will be taken and lockdown rules will be followed while conducting this exam in the month of July. Soon a review meeting will be held to finalise the timetable of the exam.” Kakade said.
Tentative Dates and Plan for the exam to take place
Everything from the correction of papers to assessments will be done in the college premises itself to reduce any external risk to the teachers evaluating the papers. According to recent developments, any final year student with KTs or backlogs will have to appear for the exam between July 1 to 15. For the regular final semester exams, students will have to appear between July 17 to July 31.
For the outstation candidates, the university decided that students will appear for the exams within 120 days from the scheduled exams. The students will have to inform the departments and the HODs at first, reported Republic World. Pune University is also planning to conduct the examination in the districts as well where the students reside. However, no decision has been taken on this yet. As per sources, the examination would be conducted in a batch-wise format. Apart from the Final year students, rest of the semester students will be assessed on the basis of internal exam marks and on their previous semester performances.
Pune University Exam syllabus and tentative pattern
Pune University final year students of professional courses of both undergraduate and postgraduate colleges would have to study only 60% of their syllabus. While speaking to TOI, pro-vice-chancellor N S Umrani says,” The syllabus would be considered till March 14 for the exams for final year students.”
The same would be applicable for final year students of undergraduate and postgraduate professional courses. Each paper of professional and non-professional course examination would comprise of 50 marks. The exam time would be 1.5 hours. SPPU vice-chancellor Karmalkar says, “In the meeting held on Saturday it was decided to take written exams of final year students of both undergraduate and post-graduate students based on 60 per cent syllabus taught before lockdown. It will be held in the month of July and it will be of 50 marks with 1.5-hour time limit. Their evaluation will be done on the basis of earlier exam marks and the marks which they will obtain in this exam. While the students who have a backlog of any subject in the final year, their papers will be set by colleges and its checking will also be done by the college,”
