Star Trek: lower decks,’ from ‘Rick and Morty’ writer Mike McMahan, gets a first trailer. The show was announced last year as part of a collection of titles or CBS all access Star Trek shows. Also, it was announced that the writer for the series was Rick and Morty’ writer Mike McMahan. It is an animated series set in the Star Trek universe with one major difference. Instead of following the officers and/or bridge crew of the ship/space station Star Trek: lower decks focus on different characters. Specifically based on the trailer a collection of incidents assigned to U.S.S. Cerritos.
Impressions
Star Trek: lower decks first trailer impressions are quite favorable. It doesn’t follow the standard mold for Star Trek series but given the writer and the media that make sense. It shows that the series will follow the adventures of for instance assigned to the lower decks of the U.S.S. Cerritos. In other words, they aren’t your typical heroes but rather the misfits on the repair crew. While there were concerns that the series would be too much like Rick and Morty the trailer shows otherwise. While it manages to capture the comedic essence of that show Star Trek: lower decks is tamer.
That being said, the show is full based on the trailer of hilarious skits. Several that stick out the duty assignments of the ensigns and the stereotypical accidentally ejecting destroying escape pod. Also, the nearly vaporizing a shipmate with a phaser, without realizing it. That being said, the series still manages to capture the essence of Star Trek. The sense of adventure and determination so common to the franchise is still evidence in the Star Trek: lower decks trailer. Even if it is buried very, very deep under the comedic hijinks of the series. The series will launch on CBS all access August 6, 2020 to boldly take Star Trek where it’s never gone before.
