Woodward Fire evacuation orders issued in Marin country

A fire in the Point Reyes National Seashore has been rising rapidly, becoming the second-largest fire in California. People believe a record-breaking heatwave to be the cause of a number of fires around California City, including Woodward Fire. The Woodward Fire has prompted evacuation orders in the Marin City, in case the fire continues spreading.

Woodward Fire

Officials believe that the Woodward Fire is the result of a heatwave, combined with lightning strikes. It broke out at around 2;30 PM on August 18 towards the south of the Woodward Trail.

Although firefighters have been at it since its inception, the fire is long from being contained. It has already burned around 3000 acres of vegetation land as of yet. No structures and people are injured as of now, but nearly 1620 structures were initially threatened by the fire. More than 220 firefighters are still battling the fire.

Woodward Fire evacuation orders

There was already an evacuation order in effect for the people residing in and around the west of Shoreline Highway. But looking at the ever-increasing ground of the fire, the Woodward Fire department has expanded the area under threat. The Sheriff has mentioned that precautions must be in place even when the danger is at distance. A tweet via the Marine County Fire also made the residents aware of the evacuation orders.

The officials have also established evacuation centre near the Civic Center, at Marine Center along with some staff to aid the people. The Sheriff also mentioned that the people living in the evacuation centre will have a parking space at the front.

Closures

The Fire Department has ordered the closing down of Point Reyes National Seashore until the Woodward Fire comes under control. They have also closed all the trails and shortcuts leading up to the park. The fire department has also ordered an infinite closure in the residents’ boating campaigns and operations.
