International Tiger Day

Introduction

The Tiger Day – a global celebration which aims to protect and conserve the wild tiger is celebrated on 29th July annually.

The tigerHere are a few things about The Tiger that makes it so beautiful and unique.The Tiger is the largest extant cat species and a member of genus Panthera.

Tiger is mostly recognised with  its dark vertical stripes on orange brown fur with lighter underside .

The tiger is an apex predator , primarily preys on ungulates such as deer and wild boar.

It is generally a solitary but social predator requiring large areas of habitat.

Tiger cubs stay with their mother for about two years , before they become independent .

They then their mother’s home range to establish their own.

About The International Tiger Day

Global Tiger day often called as the International Tiger Day is an annual celebration that aims to raise awareness about the declination of wild tiger.

Numbers leaving them in a brink of extinction and to encourage work of tiger conservation.

Also,The International tiger day started being  held annually on 29th July,  It was in 2010 at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit in Russia.

To promote the protection of natural habitat of the Tiger and to support the Tiger conservation issues the International Tiger Day is celebrated.

This day  is annually celebrated with the slogan “Their survival is in our hands”.

As an estimate  of 3,900  Tigers remain in the wild  .

This species protection needs much love more work of us to secure and protect it’s future in the wild.

In Southeast Asia, The Tigers are still in crisis and declining in number.

Keeping this into consideration several events are organised every year by animal organisations like WWF ,IFAW and the Smithsonian Institute.

After years of tiger numbers declining the tiger conservation has finally received good news .

The tiger population has recently increased for the first time in over 100 years .

• Today 3,890 tigers roam freely which is due in large to the conservation efforts taking place throughout India, Russia, Nepal.

Local wildlife officials conduct surveys & sampling as well as including estimates from scientists to determine population sizes .

We can’t deny the fact that the Tigers are the largest species of  the cat family and also one of the most iconic animals on the planet .

About a century ago there may have been over 100,000 tigers that roam in the planet.

A conservation goal which is so ambitious was set up by the government of the 13 range countries to the sound the number of the wild tigers by 2022 in the next Chinese year of the tiger .This is the Txz goal.

Reasons behind the declining population of the Tigers-

– Climate change with the rise of sea level- due to climate change lead to wipe out of Sunderbans. One of the habitats of Royal Bengal tigers.

-Several diseases are also the key factors- several animals die and there is no way to ascertain the cause of their death .

Big cats want secure ,disturbance free habital to survive

Whereas ,several developmental activities in the landscape of the protected areas pose big threat to the tigers.

-Man animal conflict also affects the population of big cats.

-Increasing tourism- increasing tourism day by day is also the factors for decline in The Tiger members.

-Lack of funds for conservation of the tigers is also one of the major reasons .
