A post from the former band Red hot chilli Pepper has confirmed this news.  Jack had replaced the band’s founding member Hillel Slovak in 1983. Slovak had left the band to be a part of another project.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers Jack is believed to have died on 18th August 2020, but this news wasn’t shared till Saturday 21st August.  Unfortunately, the cause of death is not yet known. And the funeral arrangements would be shared with the public at a later date.

Jack’s History with the Band

Sherman was the band’s guitarist when they launched their debut album. Without him, this feat may not have been possible. Jack also went for a tour with the band for their first album.  He was an integral part of the band now; he co-wrote several songs for their next record “Freaky Style”. It is such a sad turn of events, that we have lost Red Hot Chilli pepper Jack.

After bringing such fame to the band Jack was kicked out from Red Hot chilli Pepper as soon as Slovak asked to return. I guess founding members do have some privileges. Jack was the part of the band as a guitarist from 1983-1985, but people sure got attached to him. Later he went on to have a quite but successful career as a studio guitarist. He worked with artists such as Bob Dylan and George Clinton.

Although Jack was fired from Red Hot chilli peppers, he wasn’t the one to hold grudges. According to Deadline Jack had later contributed to the bands albums “Mother Milk” and the “Abby Road EP”. But he was no longer Red Hot Chilli Peppers Jack as when the band was inducted in the Rock& Roll hall of Fame, jack was left out. After this Jack came out in the public after a long time and told how hurt he was. Justifiably so. But Jack Sherman, bless his soul still never said a bad word for Red Hot Chilli Pepper. Though later on lead singer of the band Anthony said in his memoir that Jack had kept the band afloat in the difficult times.

Here’s Red Hot Chilli Peppers Insta Post dedicated to Jack Sherman:

“We of the RHCP family would like to wish Jack Sherman smooth sailing into the worlds beyond, for he has passed”.

“Jack played on our debut album as well as our first tour of the USA. He was a unique dude and we thank him for all times good, bad and in between. Peace on the boogie platform,” the group’s post further read.
